Mr. Michaels is the former President, Chief Operating Officer, and Vice Chairman of General Growth Properties (GGP). Mr. Michaels began his career with GGP in 1972. He held numerous positions at GGP, including General Counsel, Executive Vice President, Director of Corporate Leasing, and President of General Growth Management Corporation. He currently is the Chairman of the Board of Directors for Cadillac Fairview Corporation, Canada’s premier owner and developer of retail and office real estate. He is a past Director of the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees for the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), and is a member of the Urban Land Economics Research at the School of Business for the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Mr. Michaels is a graduate of the University of South Dakota School of Business and received his Juris Doctorate (J.D.) also from the University of South Dakota. He has received the University Alumnus of the Year Award, and served on the Board of Trustees for the USD Foundation. Mr. Michaels and John Bucksbaum have worked together for over 35 years.
